Physician-Guided Mental Health Technology

WellForm MD currently offers one focused mental health treatment pathway. The dedicated service page carries EXOMIND-specific candidacy, treatment experience, safety, pricing, and session details.
A focused model of care
Many mental health centers primarily provide psychotherapy, psychiatric medication management, or both.
WellForm MD has a different focus.
Our mental health center in Ankeny is built around physician-guided evaluation and advanced, noninvasive mental health technology.
For appropriate patients, this creates another treatment pathway when traditional approaches—particularly antidepressant medications—have not provided enough improvement.
Our role is not to replace every form of mental health care.
Instead, we provide access to a specialized treatment option that can complement the broader mental health care a patient may already be receiving.
The treatment category
The primary treatment approach available through our mental health center is repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, commonly called rTMS.
rTMS is a noninvasive medical treatment that uses controlled magnetic stimulation to influence targeted areas of the brain associated with mood regulation.
It provides a treatment pathway that works differently from antidepressant medication.
For some adults with major depressive disorder—particularly when previous medication treatment has not provided adequate improvement—rTMS may be an option worth evaluating.
An individual consultation is required to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Individual clinical evaluation
People arrive at mental health treatment from very different places. Some have recently begun struggling with depression. Others have lived with symptoms for years. Some have tried several medications. Others may have experienced improvement but continue to have significant symptoms. Our mental health center may be appropriate for adults who want to explore whether a technology-based treatment such as rTMS belongs in their care plan.
How depression or related symptoms are affecting your mood, motivation, sleep, concentration, relationships, work, and everyday life.
Medications, therapy, previous diagnoses, treatment response, side effects, and other mental health care you have received.
Relevant health conditions, medications, devices, procedures, and other factors that may influence treatment decisions.
What you hope will change and what meaningful improvement would look like for you.
You do not have to know whether you qualify for rTMS before contacting us. Determining that is part of the evaluation process.
A clear first step
The evaluation starts with what you have been experiencing and places the treatment available at WellForm MD in the context of your history and goals.
Tell us what you have been experiencing, how it is affecting your life, and what treatments you have already tried.
We review relevant diagnoses, medications, previous therapies, medical history, and other factors that may influence treatment.
Not every mental health concern should be treated with rTMS. The evaluation helps determine whether the treatment offered at WellForm MD may be appropriate or whether another type of mental health care would better meet your needs.
If you may be a candidate for rTMS, we can discuss the appropriate next step and provide more specific information about the treatment available at WellForm MD.
Another option to evaluate
Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all.
Medication and psychotherapy remain important treatments for many people, but they are not the only approaches available.
A technology-focused mental health center can provide another option for patients who want to understand whether noninvasive brain stimulation may be appropriate.
This may be particularly relevant when someone has:
Clinical evaluation is still necessary before treatment.
Clinical context matters
Our use of advanced technology does not mean mental health care should become impersonal.
Depression and other mental health symptoms can intersect with sleep, medications, physical health, stress, relationships, work, and other parts of life.
That broader context matters.
At WellForm MD, physician evaluation helps place rTMS within the context of your overall health rather than treating the technology as an isolated service.
The question is not simply:

Evaluation includes reviewing relevant symptoms, medical history, medications, previous treatment, treatment response, and safety considerations before determining whether the services available through our mental health center may be appropriate.
When another form of mental health care is a better fit, patients should not be placed into an rTMS pathway simply because the technology is available.

Common questions
WellForm MD is a physician-guided mental health center focused primarily on advanced, technology-based treatment using rTMS. We are not positioning the clinic as a traditional psychotherapy or comprehensive psychiatry practice.
Our current mental health treatment pathway centers on rTMS technology for appropriately selected patients. WellForm MD uses EXOMIND within this treatment program.
Our mental health program is focused on physician evaluation and rTMS treatment rather than functioning as a traditional counseling practice. Some patients may continue working with a therapist, psychiatrist, or another mental health professional as part of their broader care.
The focus of this mental health center is not routine psychiatric medication management. Medication history remains important during evaluation because it can help determine whether rTMS may be appropriate and how treatment fits with existing care.

rTMS is the treatment technology. EXOMIND is the specific rTMS system used at WellForm MD. The dedicated EXOMIND service page explains the treatment in greater detail.

Not necessarily. Mental health treatment may involve several approaches. rTMS can be one part of a broader treatment plan depending on the individual.
